The Casa Socioambiental Fund opened a call for “Support for grassroots groups in tackling climate emergencies caused by forest fires” which will receive projects from volunteer, community brigades and community-based organizations from all over Brazil.

This, which is the ninth call for Casa Fund projects in 2023, aims to support communities and territories that have been impacted by forest fires in the last 4 years.

Since 2021, Fundo Casa has launched annual calls for the structuring and strengthening of voluntary and community brigades to combat forest fires. In the last two years, 82 projects were supported and around R$2.7 million were allocated to these initiatives.

Now, in 2023, the call will support initiatives throughout the national territory, to strengthen community groups and forest firefighting brigades, which dedicate tireless efforts to preserving Brazilian biomes, providing the necessary resources to plan and execute their actions, thus increasing their chances of successfully facing this enormous challenge.

In this call 30 projects of up to R$50 thousand each will be supported, totaling R$1,500,000.00 in donations. It is possible to sign up for three different support lines: Structuring and strengthening volunteer brigades, Integrated fire management and Mobilization/engagement and reporting fires.

Proposals will be received from September 27th to November 5th, 2023.
