Network donates R$ 1 million in support of projects developed by member organizations

Initiatives contribute to the development of collective actions with the capacity to strengthen the culture of donation, grantmaking and safety and security

At the end of 2021, the Philanthropy Network for Social Justice (RFJS) once again opened the possibility of supporting projects presented and developed by member Funds in two lines of action: (1) development of strategies, actions and products to strengthen the RFJS advocacy program; (2) development of actions and products in the area of protection and security (digital, legal, self-care, etc.).

In the line of development of advocacy strategies, eight projects are being supported aimed at the creation of narratives, the production of audiovisual material, campaigns, mappings, observatories, manuals, methodologies and social technologies, as well as the structuring of support funds for microprojects and strategies, through the consolidation of partnerships.

Aimed at different audiences with a focus on political minorities, the projects will contribute to strengthening advocacy of RFJS and the Funds themselves. The Network's support for these initiatives is a strategic action, aimed at promoting and encouraging the establishment of partnerships between member organizations, seeking to contribute to the development of collective actions and diversified products in the field of social justice grantmaking and community development, with capacity to impact the local philanthropic ecosystem.

The component of developing actions and products in the area of protection and security has six proposals that include hiring legal consultancy for risk analysis and review and preparation of contract models, practices to protect systems, networks and programs against virtual attacks , adapting organizations to the General Data Protection Law and creating a self-care fund.

Collective learning and strategies

The projects that received support from the Network will be developed over the next few months, and the connection between the Funds must be permanent through the installation of Communities of Practice, in order to encourage this collective action and provide access to knowledge and tools that help processes collectively and individually.

Many of the projects under development involve more than one Fund in their implementation, and sometimes also other organizations in partnership. The RFJS Support Program is supported by Porticus and the Donate to Transform Program.

In December 2021, during the second meeting of the Community of Practices (CoP) Communication and Narratives, conducted by RFJS with communicators from member Funds, the group met to learn about the proposals and products that will be developed by members from the Support Program and also to contribute to solving challenges already identified in relation to each project.

This is one of the objectives of the Communities of Practice within the Capacity Development Program: the construction of collective solutions and the exchange of experience, strengthening the projects of each organization and, at the same time, working collectively to increase donations. In addition to CoP Comunicação e Narrativas, three others involve the Network's member organizations in activities in this direction: Security and Protection; Monitoring and Evaluation; Grantmaking and Social Technologies.
